Providence Health & Services Epic Implementation Technician - Temporary in Anaheim, California


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling Epic Implementation Technicians to our locations in Orange County, CA & Apple Valley, CA for a 4 month temporary assignment.

This work will be done onsite / in-person in Orange County, California and/or Apple Valley, California. Relocation assistance is not available. Candidates must be able to work inside of our hospitals during this project.

About the Opportunity:

• As an Epic Implementation Technician (EIT), you’ll help execute our Epic implementation in five ministries in the Orange County/High Desert Regions.

• You will support all clinical roles throughout the care continuum, providing operational support by leading standard workflows and reinforcing best practices.

• You will be a key liaison between end users, specialty and site leaders, providers, informatics, and the Providence Epic Implementation Team.

• You will help end users build their proficiency and confidence in Epic to better serve their communities.

This is a 4-month temporary assignment starting on November 2, 2020, that can open doors to a future career with Providence.

What you need to succeed:

• A valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable vehicle. Frequent travel between Epic locations is common.

• Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.

• Experience using electronic medical records is a plus (Epic preferred).

We are seeking an Epic Implementation Technician PSJH to serve as an additional resource for the implementation of the Epic system. The Implementation Technician supports all clinical roles throughout the care continuum (as assigned). An Implementation Technician is expected to be a knowledgeable project advocate, who will generate enthusiasm and excitement for Epic, as well as overall organizational change. This individual will be a liaison between end users, specialty and site leaders, informatics and Providence St. Joseph Health EPIC Implementation Team. This resources will provide operational support for the project pre-, during, and post go live by leading, reinforcing, and validating standard workflows and best practices, and at-the-elbow end user support.

All duties must be performed in a manner that promotes team success and reflects Providence St. Joseph Health mission, philosophy, and core values of compassion, dignity, justice, excellence, and integrity.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Attend all Epic trainings and demonstrate required proficiency; attend all Epic Implementation Technician trainings and demonstrate proficiency; attend change management/ownership training.

  • Identify and communicate potential issues, risks and resistance to change; attend and participate in a pre go-live logistics/process preparation meeting; attend and participate in EPIC Implementation Technician status meeting

  • Provide support to end users through pre, during, and post go-live by offering front line support and answering questions about Epic applications.

  • Provide the end-user community with a familiar face - someone who is familiar with your organization's operations and the system.

  • Approach users who are struggling and assist them in completing tasks

  • Attend daily post live status/issue meetings.

  • Provide feedback on user’s knowledge and essential skills.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year of experience utilizing electronic medical record and other third party applications.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • A senior nursing student (RN), final semester or year attending an accredited ADN or BSN program.

  • California Registered Nurse.

  • New graduated from an accredited school of nursing (RN) ADN or BSN program OR;

  • Experience utilizing electronic medical record, EPIC.
