Providence is calling a Security Engineer SME to Providence Health & Services in Renton WA, Portland OR or Anaheim CA. *other PSJH locations considered.
We are seeking a Security Engineer SME to be responsible for researching, evaluating, and designing technical security solutions for the enterprise in support of the Strategic Security Plan; providing technical security assessment support; as well as providing technical security collaboration and guidance within a Region of Providence Health & Services. Enterprise accountabilities include executing security engineering practices for Enterprise Security projects; conduct product research and participate in the selection process of technologies to support security requirements; establish technical security guidance for PH&S; and conduct technical security assessments.
In this position you will:
Act as Security Technical adviser to senior management on security solution design and implementation, to include advising on policies and procedures affecting the overall cyber security of the business.
Design systems to collect and aggregate server logs, firewall logs, intrusion prevention logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity.
Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security enhancement and development efforts.
Interact and coordinate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to obtain security services and products.
Assist in budgeting activities for Enterprise Security projects, department capital and operational budgets, feasibility studies and cost/benefit analysis. Participate in the development and adherence to project schedules.
Plan, research, and produce technical designs for security solutions in support of strategic security plan.
Provide technical security configuration guidance to regional and enterprise information systems teams for implementation.
Perform and/or oversee vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and security assessments in support of risk management and audit activities.
Provide input into improving information security reporting and metrics.
Establish configuration policies for security technologies.
Provide Tier 3 support to SOC to assist in recovering from security breaches; participate in investigation and remediation of security incidents.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Minimum of a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or IT, or related industry is required, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience continuously in senior information security role related to engineering.
10 years of continuous information security experience with 5 of those years in senior roles.
Active CISSP, SCCP, SANS or equivalents.
Advanced troubleshooting skills which include but are not limited to the use of: sniffers, forensic tools, packet captures and trends analysis.
Ability to reverse engineer and/or deconstruct technology architectures.
Ability to produce designs that speak to a variety of audiences; must be skilled with information design and the use of Visio.
Ability to take the lead in implementing new technologies and document processes; requires ability to travel to remote sites or guide staff at remote sites during implementations.
