We are looking for Imaging Specialist II for Radiology Department at St. Mary Medical Center

Location: Apple Valley, CA

Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 10 hour, Days (Variable)

Job Summary:

Responsible for radiographic examinations utilizing diagnostic radiographic equipment. Provides direct patient care to patients of all ages. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care. Age-Related Competencies: Neonate (birth–28 days), Infant (28 days–1 year), Child (1-12 years), Adolescent (13-18 years), Adult (18-64 years), Geriatrics (65 years–death).

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to respond to specific issues and data reflective of patient's status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for the primary population of patients served in the department.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs various Radiographic and Fluoroscopic procedures that produce radiographic images of optimum diagnostic quality. Selects appropriate film/cassette, radiographic technique, positioning of patient and equipment to use for procedure.

  • Identifies anatomical orientation by using correct markers and technologist initials.

  • Ensures proper identification (patient and date) on all images and records pertinent data on Radiologic requisition at all times.

  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy to ensure the best possible images for interpretation.

  • Meets the physical and mental needs of the patient during examinations (patient education, minimize waiting time, safety, etc.).

  • Understands age specific considerations and practices appropriate patient care.

  • Operates all Imaging Services radiographic equipment in a safe manner and provides proper radiation protection.

  • Documents patient information ensuring the quality of patient care and proper examination documentation and charges in the computer system. Reports and provides verbal notification regarding incomplete and incorrect examinations to ensure the proper patient charge and continuity of patient care. Maintains appropriate QTA and MQSA.

  • Performs "file/front desk clerk" and "transporter" responsibilities as required. Monitors inventory of supplies and notifies appropriate personnel when stock is low. Continually uses time to department advantage (stocking, inventory, clerical duties and special projects).

  • Notifies department manager and/or supervisor of equipment malfunction/needed repair.

  • Assists other modalities as needed to improve productivity.

  • Works all shifts as assigned including weekends and night call when necessary.

  • Recognizes what additional views (slices) maybe needed to provide Radiologist with complete information and take initiative to obtain.

  • Ensures that Imaging Services procedures are documented and charge requests are complete and prepared for data input.

Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of all diagnostic procedures.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 2 years Experience as a Radiology Technologist in a hospital environment.
