Providence Compensation Consultant PSJH in California
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Compensation Consultant PSJH. This is a limited term duration position related to a project. Term is expected to be 1 year. Candidates will work 100% remote and may reside in Washington, Oregon or California.
We are seeking a Compensation Consultant PSJH who will assist in the development, analysis and ongoing administration of various Providence compensation programs. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates positions based upon job descriptions and on-site audits using established systems and market data, determines grades and salary ranges, and prepared documentation records of the analysis and recommendations. Interprets regulatory guidelines, and collective bargaining agreements for compensation related items. Conducts data collection and analysis for special projects. Develops compensation recommendations and costings. Completes compensation surveys and market analysis. Performs reclassification analysis and processing and determines the FLSA status of each position.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Conduct and complete salary surveys, and analyze results for market competitiveness. Recommend necessary adjustments, and analyzes costs of proposed adjustments.
Work in collaboration with department leadership to design, develop and implement uniform compensation practices (such as policies, procedures and guidelines).
Research market data and select appropriate external benchmarks. Review and determine appropriate internal benchmarks. Ensure supplemental information, organizational charts, and other necessary data to properly evaluate positions is compiled. Prepare cost analysis and classification and pay grade recommendations. Maintain reports and summaries of results.
Partner and consults with Human Resources strategic partners to support core leaders who are creating or revising positions to provide guidance on the development of job descriptions to support the business strategy. Ensure that any needed supplemental information (e/g. organizational charts, financial and operations data, and other necessary scoping information) is compiled in preparation for the job evaluation process. Conduct the job evaluation process. May revise and update job descriptions or request revisions to clarify or enhance the quality and consistency of descriptions.
Serve as a resource and consultant to HR team members, managers and employees relative to compensation policy and systems, wage and hour guidelines, interpretation/application/resolution of pay matters.
Demonstrate positive working relationships with individuals at all levels within the organization. Keep both Human Resources and leadership staff informed and updated on compensation initiatives, from small reclassifications requests to complete revisions of base pay program.
Maintain and update compensation systems and/or databases. Prepare reports using report writing programs and audits reports for accuracy and appropriateness based upon policies and guidelines. May maintain job class masters and wage & salary masters for each entity and update as necessary.
Coordinate with payroll and HRIS to implement pay changes for contract adjustments. Ensure new ranges, job descriptions and rates are updated.
Participate in professional and/or research activities to keep abreast of changes in legislation, applicable state/federal laws, regulations, rules or guidelines.
Provide support and analysis to projects related to compensation issues, which may include supporting labor relations teams during union negotiations.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Social Science or related field or equivalent education/experience.
4 years general HR experience with related compensation experience including data collection and analysis, working knowledge of compensation systems, wage & hour laws and exempt classifications, or;
3 years experience as a compensation analyst to include job evaluation methodology and principals of wage/salary administration.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation.
