Providence Health & Services Director, Mental Health Strategy in California
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Director, Mental Health Strategy to work remotely within our footprint states: AK, CA, MT, NV, OR, TX and/or WA.
We are seeking a Director, Mental Health Strategy who will provide executive guidance and leadership for activities supporting the system-wide PBHLC objectives under the direction of the VP, MH Strategy and the CMO Behavioral Medicine. Specific accountabilities include but are not limited to: active participation in the development of enterprise-wide, service line strategic plans, facilitating implementation plans for large-scale strategic initiatives, facilitating work with key population health and mental health leaders to determine clinical decision making through evidence-based research and expert consensus, creating business plans, assuring workflow across multiple divisions and regions with assigned direct reports, providing enterprise-wide market and environmental assessments, overseeing project management after business decision stage through final implementation across multiple regions in support of the system wide Behavioral Health Strategy.
This role requires solid experience working directly with clinicians, preferably in a service line system model. This role also requires experience bringing clinicians together from across geographic boundaries to collaborate around clinical development and patient excellence supporting system initiatives. The ideal candidate will work with key subject matter experts, regional leadership and departmental leads across the enterprise to build the lasting rapport needed to lead and grow the system initiatives. These responsibilities span the Providence family of organizations, including facilities throughout all seven regions and Providence Global. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Act as general manager of the Providence Behavioral Health Leadership Council
Leadership of multi-year strategic planning in support of large scale implementation plans within the PBHJLC in support of system-wide clinical and organization collaboration
Ensure efficient and effective implementation of system-wide care improvement via coordinated and structured approaches to ensure appropriate management of patient access and follow-up through care continuum
Work effectively with regional/local key stakeholders to ensure integration of BH strategies and tactics to end users
Provide, leadership, direction and support in the organization for the PBHLC Clinical Focus Groups to ensure that work is in support of desired goals and objectives across the enterprise
Together with Leadership Council key physician & clinical leaders develops cost, utilization, and technology/research goals and objectives for services and ensures coordination with Focus Group deliverables
Report regularly to CMO and VP on operational status of PBHLC efforts; participates in decisions to promote rapid and appropriate expansion of sites and services
Participate in development of advanced reimbursement models and products as needed to advance strategies related to growth and patient experience
Work with key clinical/quality/marketing stakeholders, develops patient satisfaction survey and methodology for tracking of results and resolution if inefficiencies exist
Effectively coordinates and summarizes data needs and works collaboratively with Sr. Data Analyst and & analytics team to obtain needed information and data analysis in support of the system wide behavioral health strategies and in collaboration with the Focus Groups
Provide leadership as needed to the Clinical Analytic team in support of the creation and tracking of outcomes (dashboards) utilized for the development and maintenance and in support of system wide Focus Group deliverables
Optimize the development and implementation of PBHLC outcomes, in close collaboration with the Sr. Project Managers, Sr. Program Managers and Focus Group MD/administrative leaders in support of system goals and objectives
Partner with other divisions to ensures that needed expertise is available from across the enterprise in support of effective and efficient delivery of Behavioral Health services to all patient populations

Required qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor's Degree -OR- 8 years work experience in healthcare or a comparable background with clinical/project leadership experience. Preferably, experience co-leading groups of clinicians in support of organizational strategies and desired outcomes; knowledge of project management, process improvement including CAP, Lean, Six Sigma is helpful.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Experience with behavioral health services.
Successful experience working with clinicians in behavioral health program development.
Experience with care delivery models and technology.
Experience working with financial and clinical data across the continuum of care to discern focus of improvement activity.
Experience collaborating with a variety of management and leadership teams, whether contract or private practice.
