Providence Health & Services Manager, Business Operations in California


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Business Operations Manager PSJH to our location in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Business Operations Manager who will:

  • Serve as a key member of the REH Business Operations team playing a critical role with responsibility for developing and tracking systems, processes and activities in support of the execution of key strategic initiatives and goals across the entire REH division

  • Bring strong business and analytical management of REH business process across all geographic regions

  • Be on point to provide thought partnership to VPs and senior leaders across the system, while ensuring our business cases are met both from a financial and an operational perspective

  • Participate in maintaining working relationships with various levels of leadership within PSJH system including regional senior leaders as well as leaders in Finance, HR, AP, and external vendors and contractors

  • Continuously optimize REH service models, maximize revenue generation, and consistently meet performance goals with emphasis on financial and operational optimization

  • Create and maintain an environment of robust business acumen with a strong bias for action

  • Perform all duties in a manner that promotes and serves as a role model for the Mission, Vision and Values of the organization

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Support to the Sr. Manager, Business Operations on organizing business operations management initiatives

  • Maintains positive, consultative working relationship with the senior leadership team to help deliver on performance improvement goals and strategic initiatives

  • Ensures that leadership team receives and utilizes tools and information to deliver on plans and strategies and accomplish positive change when necessary

  • Lead the development of business models, business cases, pro formas, KPIs, actionable insights and analyses in written, graphical, and verbal formats

  • Communicates and partners with senior leaders across REH to deliver results aligned with committed performance goals and KPIs

  • Leads deep dive analysis to guide business decision making and performance tracking

  • Serves as interface with Shared Services - supports the department by interfacing with all departments across strategic management services that offer key support to the team, specifically with (but not limited to):

  • Finance as it relates to the overall budget, acting as a key stakeholder in coordinating annual budget development and managing budget variances

  • Human Resources: support and consultation to and with HRBP and Core Leaders with regard to policies, change management, team development and staffing needs/changes

  • AP: overall process for invoice submission and tracking/payment history

  • Legal: facilitates contract review when needed

  • Real Estate: space planning for the teams as required, across all regions and lines of business

  • Accounting: Collaborates with accounting in audits and creating solutions as needed in order to streamline REH business processes,

  • Internal Audit & Compliance: Key contributor in internal audits and in policy development

  • Treasury: Critical relationship with treasury team to streamline and optimize use of banking services for REH core ops processes

  • Support functional and regional leads in business opportunity assessment and analyses, resource requests, performance management coordination and identification of internal operational efficiencies

  • Support of intricate M&A integration projects - supports the department providing project management for complex, important integration workflows

  • Scope is focused on system level changes that have system-wide impacts, and cross functional and/or regional impacts, assistance with change management, and support to interim leadership

  • Support caregiver engagement departmental strategies to ensure a strong, thriving and integrated REH team


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Finance, or Industrial Engineering

  • 6 years' Experience with responsibility in finance, business administration or operational business management

  • 3 years' Experience working in a complex integrated delivery system

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or related business field

  • 2 years' Experience working with and managing geographically dispersed/virtual teams

  • 2 years' Experience working in health care
