Providence Health & Services Principal Analytics Product Manager in California

Providence is calling a Principal Analytics Product Manager (ACN) to one of our remote locations in Seattle, WA, Irvine, CA, Portland, OR, Alaska, Montana, New Mexico, or Texas.

We are seeking a Principal Analytics Product Manager to play a lead role in the definition, scoping, design and delivery of core analytic and information management products and services within the Healthcare Intelligence organization. The Principal Analytics Product Manager elicits requirements and specifications from stakeholders; translates them into finite, iterative bodies of work; assembles and manages cross-functional project teams; drives multiple complex workstreams to completion; and ensures that all delivery and work product adheres to standards.

The Principal Analytics Product Manager works across the Information Management and broader IS teams to ensure the right technologists are deployed to the work. The Principal Analytics Product Manager applies a blend of iterative and traditional delivery approaches (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, waterfall) as required by the nature of the work. The Principal Analytics Product Manager ensures that all delivery both adheres to and enhances the reference architecture, design patterns, and technology portfolio for the Healthcare Intelligence function, provides mentorship and training to less-senior staff, and serves as a subject matter expert for the discipline.

In this position you will:

  • Work with business, clinical and technical stakeholders to identify, define, document, and encapsulate needs into tractable bodies of work for the project teams.

  • Elicit, translate, and document business/clinical needs into functional and technical requirements, using standard processes and templates. Advocate for iterative delivery. Utilize prototypes and proofs of concept to validate requirements.

  • Manage the product life cycle from strategy to tactical execution.

  • Conduct market and competitive research.

  • Rapidly learn about core business/clinical functions, processes and workflows so that the elicitation process can be as efficient as possible. Be the translator - utilize business terminology/language with the business teams and use technical terminology/language with the technical teams.

  • Facilitate product/project discovery, solution definition, and requirement elicitation sessions/walkthroughs. Ensure that key decisions, issues and risks are documented. Ensure that decision rights between teams/parties are adhered to. Define those rights if they do not exist. Take the lead in resolving conflicts between stakeholders - including leadership - and the technical team. Document rights and roles into a RACI if required.

  • Facilitate the definition of the project/product backlog, including Epics, features, user stories, and tasks. Ensure the team produces high quality project artifacts, including specifications, process flows, mockups, wireframes, and operational support guides.

  • Determine the appropriate delivery approach (waterfall, Agile, Kanban, etc.). Assemble the project team through negotiation with resource managers. Execute the project to completion. Ensure a graceful transition to operations. Minimize technical debt. Balance capacity across multiple projects in parallel.

  • Manage client expectations; identify and communicate risks; manage and overcome project impediments; serve as the communication pathway between clients, management, leadership, and the project team.

  • Understand the current reference architecture, design patterns, and technology portfolio; ensure that new initiatives adhere to the standards; highlight any exceptions to the standards. Ensure that all project efforts adhere to architecture review, security review, and change control processes.

Mentor and train other staff; lead the creation of best practices and standard processes for the discipline; be a subject matter expert in the discipline.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM or social science field or equivalent educ/experience

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • 9 years in technical, analyst or project management roles

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Masters Degree in a STEM or social science field

  • Product Management certification

  • Six Sigma Process Improvement certification
