St. Joseph Health / Covenant Health Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging Outpatient in Fullerton, California

We are looking for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist for the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Outpatient Department at St. Jude Medical Center.

Location: Fullerton, CA

Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 10-hour, Days (Variable)

Job Summary:

Performs all MRI procedures according to protocol for patients of any age group or as prescribed by the Radiologist for diagnostic purposes in accordance with department, hospital, and regulatory agency standards. Participates in call back rotation as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently demonstrates responsibility for all MRI procedures, equipment, such as laser cameras, computers, consoles, and associated patient monitoring equipment; reports any malfunctions and regularly practices preventative maintenance.

  • Uses schedule to maximum efficiency; maintains patient flow pattern throughout shift; performs scheduled tests as necessary; knows how to coordinate tests.

  • Interviews patients regarding medical history and current symptoms to determine scan sequences to be completed and patient safety in the magnet.

  • Notifies Radiologist regarding possible pathology to determine whether or not contrast enhancement and a change of scan parameters is indicated.

  • Performs MRI imaging protocols through pre-assigned protocols, completes images in Meditech, reviews images in the Synapse application.

  • Regularly checks equipment, accessories and supplies; keeps area stocked at all times, cleans and disinfects equipment after each use; maintains supplies as required; reports equipment failure to Bio-Med department.

  • Maintains stock supplies daily.

  • Clearly demonstrates high level of performance with patient satisfaction initiatives promoting effective scripting and spot lighting.

  • Demonstrates competency with providing MRI safety as outlined in the MRI safety Policy.


  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, as well as the principles of physics relating to MRI.

  • Demonstrates leadership ability and thorough knowledge of all department policy and procedures.

  • Computer skills.

Minimum Position Requirements:


  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program.

  • Coursework/Training - Maintain continuing education hours necessary to renew license/certification.


  • ARRT(MR)

  • ARRT(R)

  • Current American Heart BLS Healthcare Provider level.

  • Fluoroscopy

  • Venipuncture (upon hire only)

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 2 years experience performing MRI procedures.
