Providence Regional Director, Infection Prevention in Irvine, California
The Regional Director, Infection Prevention is the direct supervisor for ministry and region level infection prevention managers and responsible for infection prevention across the continuum of care with the assigned region. The Regional Director is accountable for implementation of and compliance with policies, practices, and processes of the infection prevention program at the ministry, region, and system level. In collaboration with the IP program director, IP medical director, and Infection Preventionists, The Regional Director will follow all current local, state, and federal guidelines, standards, and regulations. The Regional Director is responsible for overseeing infection prevention consultative services focused on providing the highest quality care at the lowest cost to patient and organization. As with all PSJH caregivers, their Infection Prevention Manager performs all duties in a manner that reflects the mission, vision, and values of Providence St Joseph Health.
Relationships : Create and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and leaders, including ministry and regional CNOs, CMOs, executive quality leaders, service line leaders, and leaders across the continuum of care (ambulatory, home health, hospital, long term care, etc.).
High Reliability : Demonstrate understanding of high reliability principles through use of tools, tones, and behaviors that promote patient safety.
Regulatory : Maintain expert-level awareness of all relevant state, federal, and accrediting organization regulations, standards, and/or guidelines. Ensure the assigned regional infection prevention program maintains alignment and compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
Leading Practice : In conjunction with physicians and other infection prevention leaders, coordinate the creation, approval, customization, and local implementation of regional and system policies, procedures, standards, protocols, evidence-based practices, and risk assessments related to the infection prevention program.
Education : Develop and promote educational opportunities among direct reports. Routinely assess competency and provide opportunities for mentorship and competency growth and development.
Planning : In conjunction with the regional manager, strategically analyze appropriate resources needed to achieve the infection prevention plan and evaluate cost-effectiveness of advances in current technology, products, software, or changes in practice. Create cost/benefit analyses and model anticipated return on investment in order to determine which requests should be prioritized and submitted.
Planning : In conjunction with other infection prevention leaders and key stakeholders, establish annual goals for the regional infection prevention program. Adhere to and monitor the annual strategic plan while identifying opportunities for improvement and work flow optimization.
Communication : Utilize effective means of communication to ensure that regional leaders remain informed regarding all relevant infection prevention topics, issues, and updates. Maintain routine and effective communication with the Executive Director, Infection Prevention and other regional infection prevention directors.
Leadership : Utilize collaboration, facilitation, and communication skills to promote implementation and uptake of leading practice related to infection prevention. Identify areas in which dedicated support, increased resources, or escalation is required to ensure patient safety.
Fiscal : Maintain the regional infection prevention budget while utilizing resource stewardship and strong fiscal planning.
Required experience and education for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field
Master's Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field
If no Master's Degree, the incumbent must obtain degree two (2) years from the date of hire.
8 years of experience in Infection Control and Prevention or Epidemiology
5 years management experience
Certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Prevention (CBIC)
Fellow of Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Prevention (FAPIC)
