Providence is calling a Director Rehabilitation Services (Full-Time/Day-Shift) to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, CA.

We are seeking a Director Rehabilitation Services - is accountable for all clinical functions and administrative management of Rehabilitation Services. Rehabilitation Services includes; Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, and Therapeutic Recreation. Areas covered by Rehabilitation Services include Out-Patient, Acute In-Patient, Acute Rehab, and Sub-Acute Units. The Director of Rehabilitation Services will work in collaboration with the Nurse Director/Manager of Acute Rehab to assure CARF readiness.

In this position you will:

  • Manage and supervises positions in Rehabilitation Services to improve quality of services (reliability, efficiency, and clinical care)

  • Work effectively with the Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services and Acute Rehab and with the Nurse Director/Manager of Post-Acute Services

  • Maintain, reviews, creates, and enforces all departmental policies and procedures in conjunction with the appropriate departments in the hospital to avoid duplication and inconsistencies

  • Responsible for Performance Improvement program with associated scorecards and metrics. Familiar with outcomes data, requirements, and use with in Rehabilitation Services, and Acute Rehab.

  • Assure regulatory compliance with all laws and regulations, HIPAA regulation, conditions of participations with Medicare, The Joint Commission, CARF, DHS, CCS and other regulatory and accrediting bodies in the areas of responsibility

  • Oversee the development of the annual budgets for the Rehabilitation Services Department and assures the target is met. Monitors staff productivity, staff mix/staffing patterns, and supply expenditure

  • Maintain charge masters for the Rehabilitation Services Department and assures compliance of CPT codes, Medi-cal codes, HCPCS, or any other system, which may affect reimbursement

  • Act as a liaison between the Business Office and the Rehabilitation Services Department to ensure accuracy of billing. Monitors appropriate data entry and charging for billing purposes

  • Supervise all direct reports and assesses needs for changes in structure as well as growth opportunities in those direct reports

  • Plan for appropriate and safe staffing levels in conjunction with department supervisors and leads

  • Develop and makes recommendations for new rehabilitation programs needed to accomplish the program and hospital’s goals. Monitors status of special projects on an ongoing basis, providing feedback to staff and Medical Director

  • Assume responsibility for the education programs in the Rehabilitation Services Department including: Student intern program, in-service program provided to the rehab staff and by the rehab staff, assists with staff development and maintains necessary documentation, oversees new hire orientation/training and participates in nursing education as required, competency program for Rehab Services, monitors usage of outside training sessions

  • Maintain departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes

  • Manage personnel issues including consultation during hiring, counseling, and employee evaluations

  • Develop staff, provides constructive feedback to improve performance and seeks learning and growth opportunities for staff

  • Oversee customer focused activities and improvement plan for patient/family, staff, and physicians

  • Work in collaboration with external entities in the community and promote services and facilitate outreach and community oriented opportunities

  • Facilitate and manages departmental communication and meetings

  • Promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff that allows for the delivery of high quality patient care

  • Protect patient confidentiality by promoting professional staff communications

  • Attend administrative meetings and actively participates on task forces and committees

  • Actively seeks ways to develop professionally, demonstrated by self directed participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops

  • Demonstrate behaviors and adherence to communications standards as well as professional legal and technical standards, personal growth and development through

Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Master's Degree in Physical Therapy Or

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology Or

  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy

  • BLS for Healthcare Providers sponsored by the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire. Note: If applicant has certification by the American Red Cross-CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, this will be accepted until card expiration date

  • One of the following:

  • Current License by the California Board of Occupational Therapy/Department of Consumer Affairs

  • Current License by the Physical Therapy Board of California/Department of Consumer Affairs

  • Current License by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California/Department of Consumer Affairs

  • 3 years of experience in management role in a health care setting

  • Direct experience in program development, performance improvement, and program marketing.

  • 3 years of experience in clinical rehabilitation

  • Ability to supervise/direct professional staff outside of own discipline

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and problem solve

  • Willingness to travel from one facility to another during the course of the day or week

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Computer knowledge preferred: excel, word and internet based programs
