Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Inventory Clerk WD to our location in Mission Viejo, CA.

We are seeking a Senior Inventory Clerk WD who will be report directly to the Manager, Materials and Logistics. The Supply Coordinator manages the performance of the OR and MM Supply chain (supplies and implants) through the Perioperative continuum. The position requires collaboration with all levels of OR personnel and directly interfaces with the Lead Supply Coordinator, OR Buyer, OR (PICIS) Supply Coordinator, and other Material Management staff. Utilizing PMM, supply audits and cycle counts, this position is accountable for perpetual maintenance of appropriate levels and accurate inventory counts.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain Supplies and Replenishment:

  • In concert with the OR buyer and coordinators, assures the maintenance of appropriate supply levels within the surgical services department.

  • Utilizes Material Management system module and visual cues as primary tools.

  • Performs/coordinates daily inventory and stock level counts.

  • In tandem with the OR Buyer/purchasing department, conducts/assists the placing of daily requisitions/orders. In concert with buyers assures all orders arrive as desired. Interfaces with Purchasing and Receiving to assure all orders are properly received.

  • Ensures accurate placement of all supplies for clinical use. Assures the proper storage, rotation and availability of supplies for the Surgical Services Department.

  • Takes quick action to resolve over-/under-stocking conditions. Participates in timely pulling/preparation of items for upcoming cases.

  • In concert with Lead addresses slow/no moving stock and inventory discrepancies.

  • Acts as a resource for the OR Supply staff.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic and unit specific) as indicated on the competency inventory.

  • Implant Management:

  • Responsible for staff education and accurate implant documentation.

  • Acts as a systems resource regarding electronic charges for all circulators, RN Nurse Auditor, OR Buyer and Business Manager; accurately communicates and corrects the daily fiscal OR Inventory in the operating room.

  • Maintains the operating room implant dictionary on PICIS.

  • Logs all incoming implants into PICIS.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic and unit specific) as indicated on the competency inventory.

  • Maintains Supply Area:

  • Plans and updates the physical inventory locations for all operating supplies.

  • Assures stock areas are clean, properly labeled, and accommodate the necessary stock on hand.

  • Installs visual cues to provide highest level of visual management.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic and unit specific) as indicated on the competency inventory.

  • Improvements and Stewardship:

  • Identifies improvement opportunities and with guidance/approval from Lead/supervisor implements same.

  • Effectively utilizes the PMM module reporting feature and other automated tools.

  • Under guidance from Lead and the appropriate Surgical Services staff, sets and maintains the appropriate inventory/Par levels for all supplies and implants within the Surgical Services Department to assure the availability of supplies at reasonable levels.

  • Ensures good stewardship of the organization’s fiscal resources.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic and unit specific) as indicated on the competency inventory.

  • Product Removal:

  • Responsible for the proper rotation of stock, and removal of outdated, obsolete, or damaged items from inventory.

  • Responsible for recalled items.

  • Works with vendors, Lead, specialty coordinators, and Material Management to coordinate: supply returns, exchanges, donations, and consignment.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic and unit specific) as indicated on the competency inventory.

  • Continual Learning:

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the current hospital systems utilized in Surgical Services (PMM, PICIS, and Meditech).

  • Introduces and implements process improvements.

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform behavioral competencies (generic and unit specific) as indicated on the competency inventory.

  • Organized detailed attention to planning for supply replenishment for a busy trauma hospital environment. Provides daily attention to Inventory and PAR level management in the supply core and operatories of the Surgical Services Department. Accurate management of supply locations and assure maintenance of accurate records. Close monitoring of the OR schedule daily and for future bookings to correctly manage supply flow. Plan for yearly inventory occurrences by facilitating periodic cycle counts. Proactively identify slow/no moving items and reduce/remove inventory of same. Participate in the improvement of monthly turns to achieve department goals.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • 3 years experience in inventory processes in the health care environment.

  • Meditech, PMM, PICIS or other electronic experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Training in Inventory Control, Lean Inventory Management, Process Flow Technologies.

  • Lean/Six Sigma training.

  • 4 years experience in Material Management.
