We are looking for a Radiation Therapist for the Radiation Therapy Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. $20,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible external candidates who meet all conditions for payment - this is an addition to the fantastic benefits and compensation package offered by Providence that begin on your first day of employment.

Location: Napa, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 80 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Lead Radiation Therapist, Radiation Oncology Manager, Physicist, and Radiation Oncologists and with latitude for independent judgment, performs all the professional duties involved in coordinating, preparing and administering radiation therapy treatments and simulation procedures within appropriate radiation safety practices. Acts in compliance with Federal, State, and Joint Commission standards. Performs duties under minimum supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs safe and efficient operation of the equipment for simulations and treatments in compliance with Federal, State, Joint Commission and Medical Center standards.

  • Reviews the patient chart, treatment plan, prescription, dosimetry and set up instructions and prepares New Start Flowsheet prior to treatment procedures.

  • Positions patients accurately during treatments.

  • Ensures that custom devices and immobilization are in place prior to treatment.

  • Completes timely, clear and concise documentation.

  • Provides and maintains quality patient care and relations, collaborating within the healthcare team to provide assistance and care to the patient in a positive, efficient and proactive manner.

  • Provides appropriate education for patient, families, and other healthcare providers.

  • Participates in the supervision and evaluation of students.

  • Collaborates with other healthcare providers.

  • Ensures Quality Checklist and Image Worklist are kept up to date

Skills:

  • Knowledge of radiation oncology procedures, radiation physics, radiobiology, radiation protection, anatomy and positioning, and dosimetry.

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, Title 17, Code of Federal Regulations and Title 22 requirements as well as Radiation Safety, Medical Center and department standards.

  • Ability to safely and accurately operate the radiation therapy equipment, linear accelerators, OBI, Portal Vision, simulators and computers, and other treatment devices.

  • Ability to follow directions and be accountable for problem solving.

  • Ability to establish priorities, organize and complete work in a timely manner.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and their families, peers and physicians.

  • Good computer skills.

  • Anticipates patient and physician procedural needs.a

  • Adherence to Medical Center customer service standards

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current California Therapeutic Radiologic Technology (CRT) license.

  • Current registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy - ARRT (T) certificate.

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification

Experience: Experience in a hospital setting.
