Providence Health & Services Clinical Social Worker – LCSW - Crisis Stabilization Unit in San Pedro, California

Providence Crisis Stabilization Unit is calling a full time, variable shift Clinical Social Worker – LCSW to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA. This position is primarily a second/ afternoon shift with a few overnights per pay period.

In this position you will:

  • Provide clinical social work services on the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of LCM-SPH and the NASW.

  • Be responsible for psychosocial assessments.

  • Participate in treatment team planning, processing commitments, discharge planning/case management service, crisis intervention, and liaison services with referral sources and other departments within the Providence Health & Services and community. Patients to include adults 18 years or older.

  • Designated as a Behavioral Health Clinician to perform 5150 evaluations.

  • All LCSWs must follow the guideline by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health for LPS designation and keep their designation in current status.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Completion of an accredited Master's Program in Social Work, Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy

  • LCSW/LMFT licensure by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)

  • Be designated as a Behavioral Health Clinician to perform 5150 evaluations within 18 months of hire.

  • All LCSWs must follow the guideline by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health for LPS designation and keep their designation in current status

  • Two to five years experience in healthcare related setting with psychiatric mental health patient population or within an emergency department working with psychiatric patients.

  • CPI certification (nonviolent crisis intervention training) within 1 year of hire.

  • Advanced communication skills to communicate effectively with patients, interdisciplinary team physicians and the community.

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write and understand English.

  • Flexibility and strong self motivation/organizational skills to prioritize work and make decisions with minimal supervision

  • Computer experience/literacy as needed for the job.

  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing; physical agility to manage patients; push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds; intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping; drug and alcohol free as evidenced by negative results of post-offer, pre-employment urine drug screen, and as defined by the RU-91 form.

  • A courteous and cooperative service-oriented demeanor

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Completion of an accredited Masters Program in Social Work with Clinical Social Work licensure by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences

  • Registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and pursuing licensure

  • Knowledgeable of case management, group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management, family therapy theory and practice, and community resources with discharge planning experience preferred.
