Providence is calling a Per Diem, Variable Shift Milieu Counselor to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA.

In this position you will:

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe, comfortable, compassionate environments. Support and encourages patients in the treatment process through active listening, validation of patient feelings and appropriate confrontation and intervention when needed.

  • Work as part of a team with clinical/medical staff to provide quality patient care in the treatment of chemical dependency.

  • Provide patient care to adolescents, young, middle and older adults.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.

  • Chemical Dependency Certificate from a professionally recognized program and/or an AA or BS Degree in a related field.

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position.

  • Ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families, visitors, hospital staff and co-workers.

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write and understand the English language.

  • High degree of assertiveness, self-confidence, organization and accuracy.

  • Must be a self-motivated, self-starter who requires minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position

  • Ability to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families, visitors, hospital staff and co-workers.

  • Ability to fluently speak, read, write and understand the English language.

  • In accordance with Title 22, all professional staff, prior to employment, shall be free of and have had the last two (2) years free of any Chemical Dependency

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • One (1) year experience in Chemical Dependency/Mental Health or 1000 documented hours of an internship in Chemical Dependency/Mental Health.
