We are seeking a Noninvasive Cardiovascular Technician who will provide direct care of patients, ages new born through geriatric, with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the heart. The position has responsibilities mainly in the performance of various non-invasive cardiovascular exams and non-invasive vascular exams for the diagnosis of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and peripheral arterial diseases.
In this position you will:
Perform non-invasive vascular exams including peripheral arterial studies and scans of the upper and lower extremities, venous duplex imaging of the upper and lower extremities, carotid duplex imaging, trans-cranial duplex imaging, aortic and other related vascular work per department need
Analyze data obtained and communicates this information to the medical and nursing staff when appropriate
Perform Holter monitor application and scanning per department policy and procedure manual. Analyzes and compiles appropriate reports for physician review
Assist physicians in performing treadmills and Cardiolite treadmills, including proper preparation, hook-up and education of the patient, and notification of other departments involved
Perform 12-lead and Late Potential Signal Averaged EKGs using appropriate hook-ups, settings and orientation of equipment. Prepares EKGs for review by physicians, performs editing of reviewed tracings, copies and distributes confirmed tracings appropriately
Properly identify patients, labeling exam materials and completing logbooks, computer records and other documentation appropriately and in a timely manner. Notifies physicians in a timely manner of completed tests requiring their review, including significant findings affecting patient care
Perform general office duties such as transcription, copying and distributing physician’s dictated reports with a 24-our period with a 99% accuracy rate. Proficient at scheduling all cardiology procedures
Answer telephone in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
Maintain equipment/supplies and keeps equipment and department in a clean environment
Troubleshoot equipment when necessary and notifies proper authorities when unable to resolve
Remain current with skills and education needed for new procedures and technology as they are added to the departmental duties
Respond to pages, beeps and stat calls in a timely fashion following department protocol. Calls in appropriate personnel for requested stat calls during off hours (i.e.: Echo Techs)
Participate in after-hour call for venous and other vascular coverage as necessary for department coverage
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Associate's Degree: Completion of non-invasive vascular program
Current BLS card; RQI must be completed within the first 90 days of employment
Six (6) months of Vascular Scanning experience to include Peripheral Arterial/Venous and Cerebrovascular studies
Excellent organizational skills, time management and flexibility to adjust personnel work hours to meet the department’s needs
Be available and participate in the rotating “On-Call” schedule with other staff members
Able to accurately complete assigned tasks and be detail oriented
Able to perform the physical requirements of the position as defined on the RU-91 form
Able to establish and maintain a courteous and cooperative (service-oriented) working relationship with patients, families, visitors, hospital staff and co-workers
Able to fluently speak, read, write and understand the English language
