Providence Health & Services Manager, Spiritual Care in Santa Monica, California
Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Manager, Spiritual Care to Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, CA and St. John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, CA.
We are seeking a Manager, Spiritual Care to provide managerial oversight and leadership to the Spiritual Care Department including the development of the CPE program. Provides spiritual care and support to patients and employees. Provides leadership in integrating spiritual care of the whole person. Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to patients of differing cultures and backgrounds. Possessed knowledge of, and reverence for, the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church and demonstrates ability to collaborate effectively with the Ecclesial structures of the Church. Clearly articulates the Mission of Providence Health and Services.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Demonstrates Providence Health and Services core values of respect, justice, compassion, stewardship, and excellence to customers, employees, and visitors; and provides quality service in the performance of work assignments and duties.
Selects, orients and assigns department chaplaincy staff. Assures delivery of Spiritual Care within the Standards for Spiritual Care of the Providence Health and Services. Evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains effective communication with staff chaplains through staff meetings and other means of communication.
Plans, organizes, directs and schedules spiritual programs and services that meet the needs of patient/patient families, hospital employees, and medical staff.
Welcomes and hosts CPE residents and interns into the Spiritual Care Department. Assures the department provides for all its responsibilities as a CPE Ministry Site as defined in the CPE Student Handbook.
Provides for specific needs of individual faiths by fostering an ecumenical approach to hospital ministry.
Develops goals and objectives, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for quality improvement.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master’s degree in Divinity Or equivalent educ/experience.
4 Units of CPE completed at an ACPE or NACC Accredited Center. One equivalency unit will be accepted if granted by APC, NACC or NAJC.
3 years experience in Spiritual Care in a health care setting.
Ability to deal effectively with many people across a broad range of cultural backgrounds and ages.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Proficient in PC software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. as well as able to learn EPIC.
Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate work.
Ability to work effectively with many people at various levels of the organization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and appropriately prioritize.
Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, patients, co-workers, management, physicians, and visitors.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with hospital policy.
Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) by NACC or APC.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Managerial and supervisory experience.
