Providence Medical Physicist - Radiation Oncology in Santa Monica, California

Description

We are seeking a Medical Physicist who will apply knowledge and methodology of science of physics to all aspects of medicine to address issues related to diagnosis and treatment of human disease. Advise and consult with physicians in such applications as use of ionizing radiation, therapy, treatment planning with externally delivered radiation, as well as use of internally implanted radioactive sources.

In this position you will:

  • Calibrate all radiation equipment

  • Maintain radiation survey equipment

  • Provide treatment planning and dose calibrations

  • Establish and review standards and procedures for Radiation Safety, including instruction of all appropriate personnel

  • Instruct technical staff on treatment planning and dose calculations

  • Provide input into Radioactive Material license

  • Participate in radiation safety activities

  • Participate in weekly chart rounds

  • Participate in continuing education to maintain certification and competency

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master's Degree or Ph.D. in Medical Physics

  • American Board of Radiology certified or eligible

  • On State of California Accelerator Acceptance testing and safety survey list

  • 3 years experience in Medical Physics

  • Varian Trilogy accelerator, Eclipse treatment planning

  • Knowledge of therapeutic applications of x-ray, gamma rays, electron and charged particle beams, neutrons and radioactive sealed radionuclide sources along with the equipment associated with their production, use and measurement

  • Ability to effectively work with many people

  • Excellent human relations and oral/written communications skills

  • Must be able to prioritize, organize, and coordinate care

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • SRS, LDR and HDR
