Providence is calling a Patient Administrative Associate - Monitor Technician to Telemetry for Full-Time Day Shift to Providence Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica, CA
We are seeking a Patient Administrative Associate - Monitor Technician who will provide clerical and administrative support, admitting activities, and insurance verification in the PCC/SDU units. In addition, the MT is responsible to observe the monitors, run and measure the telemetry strips, and report significant dysrhythmias to the nurse.
In this position you will:
Prioritize and perform work assignment and job duties effectively, and provide prompt and efficient customer service
Identify and report potential and actual risk management issues to appropriate personnel
Demonstrate competency in selected PAA/MT skills including, but not limited to:
Perform clerical duties related to admission, registration, transfer and discharge of patients
Ensure proper maintenance of the medical record
Accurately and thoroughly transcribes orders
Report stat orders to the appropriate Team members within acceptable time frame
Execute computer related order entry
Place office supply order efficiently
Demonstrate good telephone etiquette at all times, answering and direction all calls promptly and correctly
Demonstrate the ability to monitor patient rhythms on the screens at the Central monitoring station
Run the strips per unit protocol, measures them, and places the strip in the monitor technician log book, and documents the interpretation
Promptly notifies the appropriate team member about any significant dysrhythmias, i.e. rhythm change or potential life threatening arrhythmias.
Answer call lights and ensure that patient needs are reported to the appropriate personnel
Demonstrate responsibility for own professional practice in regard to:
Time and attendance
Confidentiality
Demonstrate professional, collaborative, an proactive behavior in all interactions with patient, visitors, physicians and staff
Obtain necessary knowledge and skill to maintain competence
Complete all mandatory educational and proficiency requirements
Attend and participate in staff meetings
Volunteer for and accepts assignments or projects
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
Completed and passed a basic Dysrhythmia class
Completed and passed basic EKG class
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
2 years PAA/MT experience
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Demonstrate competency in performing selected patient administrative associate functions
Demonstrate competency in performing the monitor technician role
Medical terminology knowledge
Effective oral and written, and interpersonal communication skills
Basic computer skills
Familiarity with order entry
Able to handle a high volume/high pressure environment
Able to work independently, with minimal supervision
Able to establish priorities appropriately and organize job responsibilities
Able to answer phones, and answer call lights efficiently
