We are seeking a Rehabilitation Aide who will support the mission, vision, values and objectives of Saint John's Health Center. Works under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting the professional staff with clinical and clerical duties and with maintaining an orderly work area. The Rehabilitation Aide should demonstrate professional communication and interpersonal skills including direct, honest and compassionate behavior.

In this position you will:

  • Facilitate teamwork and effective flow of ideas by participating in an environment of trust characterized by openness, honesty, and fairness

  • Facilitate good working relationships between physicians, staff, and administration

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism when working with others

  • Participate in the provision of care by:

  • Providing assistance to physical therapists and physical therapist assistants during transfers and gait training of patients requiring additional help

  • Providing assistance in the gathering and transporting of patients to and from the department

  • Assisting in the preparation of patients for treatment as directed by the rehabilitation professional

  • Providing physical therapy services to patients under the orders and immediate supervision of a physical therapist, following the evaluation and documentation of a treatment plan by a physical therapist

  • Performing non-skilled treatments or maintenance treatments, including but not limited to, ROM exercises, transfers and/or ambulation of patients who have completed a course or trial of physical therapy

  • Maintain a tidy and clean work environment including but not limited to:

  • Cleaning of equipment between patient treatments

  • Checking of refrigerator temperatures

  • Cleaning and maintenance of equipment such as walkers, treatment mats, wheelchairs, ADL equipment etc

  • Cleaning of department gyms and storage areas

  • Assist the rehabilitation professional in clerical duties including, but not limited to:

  • Patient scheduling

  • Delivering of the daily therapy schedules to floors

  • Daily reconciliation of billing

  • Inputting of registry billing

  • Maintaining an adequate supply of forms

  • Practice in a professional, collaborative, and proactive manner in all interactions with patients, visitors, physicians and staff

  • Demonstrating flexibility adjusting to changes in patient acuity and workload

  • Participating in committees and special projects.

  • Identify risk management issues, taking appropriate actions, and communicating unresolved issues to the appropriate personnel

  • Practice cost effective methods in the delivery of care:

  • Using available resources efficiently

  • Demonstrating understanding of overall unit needs and using downtime to assist others

  • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own performance and departments performance in regards to:

  • Attendance and punctuality

  • Positive public relations image and working relationships

  • Obtaining necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence

  • Completing all mandatory requirements including current licensure and BLS

  • Meeting regulatory compliance standards (e.g. JCAHO, Title 22, and HIPPA.)
