We are seeking a Clinical Research Associate I Melanoma who will assist in the study of early human immune response in skin cancers, predominantly melanoma, cutaneous squamous cell, and merkel cell carcinomas, and mechanisms of recurrence. Responsibilities include the study of biological mechanism that contribute to development of metastases in early stage of skin cancers. This position will investigate various mechanisms to yield new insights into tumor escape to lymph nodes and distant sites as well as provide an understanding of the immune system role in tumor micro-environment and regional lymph nodes.
In this position you will:
Laboratory maintenance including ordering and stocking supplies, preparing solutions, equipment monitoring, cleaning, and maintenance, biohazard disposal, etc.
Organize and plan experiments under general Principal Investigator (PI) supervision or someone designated by PI.
Learn new laboratory techniques and apply them in carrying out new experiments under the supervision of PI or other senior lab members.
Assist in data analysis and preparation of data for poster, oral or written presentations.
Assist in working with human subjects enrolled in our IRB protocols.
Comply with hospital, department and unit standards including, but not limited to, safety, CPR, infection prevention, quality management, environmental, confidentiality, and patient care.
Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regard to:
Attendance, punctuality and patient confidentiality.
Positive public relation image and working relationships.
Obtaining necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence and certifications.
Completing all mandatory requirements, including annual safety programs and annual physical.

Required qualifications for this position includes:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent educ/experience
Laboratory coursework relevant to biological sciences
Phlebotomy training and obtaining a license may be provided if the scope of work expands to the need to obtain blood from research subjects or patients participating in clinical research protocols
One (1) year experience in laboratory
Sterile Tissue Culture and in vitro cellular assays.
Processing paraffin tissue blocks. Immunohistochemistry staining.
RNA/DNA extraction, protein preparation.
Molecular biology techniques
Strong communication skills.
Strong writing skills.
Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to deal effectively with many people across a broad range of cultural backgrounds and ages.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Proficient in P.C. software applications including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate work.
Ability to work effectively with many people at various levels of the organization.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and appropriately prioritize.
Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, patients, co-workers, management, physicians, and visitors.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance to hospital policy.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Experience in a clinical setting.
