Clinical Nurse Specialist (RN) - NICU (Part-time Days)

$12,000 hiring bonus for eligible external hires that meet required qualifications and conditions for payment.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (RN) serves as a consultant, educator, researcher, and clinical expert for the medical center and service area. Demonstrates expertise in the care of age-specific patient population (e.g., infants, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, pediatrics) according to clinical specialty, and participates in related continuing education.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing.

  • Advanced study in area of clinical specialization.

  • Coursework in adult education principles.

  • Training in performance improvement and research methodology.

  • Current California Licensed Registered Nurse.

  • CNS certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

  • Current BLS-HCP Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association (AHA), or American Red Cross (ARC) CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer accepted on hire until card expiration date.

  • NRP required for employees in L&D, NICU, Nursery, Postpartum.

• New graduates - within 6 months from date of hire.

• Other caregivers - within 180 days of completion of clinical orientation for other employees.

  • 1 year experience in adult education, patient/family education.

  • 3 years recent experience in nursing specialty area.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate a/v equipment & equipment used in area of clinical specialty.

  • Able to work collaboratively with all health team members.

  • Basic word processing skills.

  • Curriculum design and evaluation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach individuals and groups.

  • Demonstrated direct patient care and clinical consultation skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Nursing specialty certification.
