Providence is calling a Physical Therapy Aide (Per-Diem/Day Shift) at Providence Cedars-Sinai Tarzana Medical Center in Tarzana, CA.
We are seeking a Physical Therapy Aide who will be responsible for performing general, non-technical duties and assisting the Physical Therapist in positioning, lifting, transferring, and treating patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy. Treat patients under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapist and collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
In this position you will:
Promote patient, physician, customer and employee satisfaction by personal example, treating all contacts with respect
Support and participate in activities that foster customer service
Communicate and follow the organizational chain of command for notification of patient care/service issues, when appropriate
Maintain required applicable licensure, certification and education
Attend and successfully complete general and department orientation, in-service programs and the annual key competencies and mandatory update requirements
Participate actively in department staff meetings
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communications
Maintain knowledge of provision of individualized age specific care. Interact with adult medical/surgical, geriatric and pediatric patients taking into consideration the needs of each specific age group (communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations: Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric
Assist Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant as determined by standards of practice and the Supervising Physical Therapist’s judgment
Observe all patient precautions including total hip and total knee replacement, spinal, fall risk and weight bearing status precautions. Observe equipment precautions including CPM use, brace use, traction equipment, oxygen use, intermittent pressure pumps, drains, catheters, IV’s and other lines to the patient, as determined by the standards of practice
Recognize normal/abnormal responses to treatment and changes in patients’ status and immediately advise the Supervising Physical Therapist of any changes or problems, as determined by standards of practice
Demonstrate supervised competency in basic procedures including bed mobility, transfer training, pre-gait and gait
Perform regular cleaning procedures that include keeping the department clean and organized and keeping equipment clean, sanitized, and in good repair
Perform, scheduling of patients, updating the patient list and checking for new orders. Inform manager when supplies need to be ordered or when equipment needs repair or replacement
Make self readily available to assist PT’s and PTA’s or effectively communicate availability when not readily available
Demonstrate willingness and ability to float to areas within their scope of practice as necessary
American Physical Therapy Association approved Physical Therapy Aide course or ETRMC Physical Therapy Aide Training Program (can be completed within 90 days of hire)
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA-BLS) for Healthcare Provider
Current LA City Fire Card within 90 days of hire
- 1 year of acute care experience
