Providence Health & Services Financial Partner PSJH in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a Finance Partner to Providence St. Joseph Health in Torrance, CA at the Regional Administration Building. The Finance Partner will work in close collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of PHN/PSJHN and will be responsible for performing a variety of complex financial analyses, cost accounting, population health performance reporting, market analytics, and special projects for acute care, long-term care, assisted living, physician clinics, home healthcare, grants, foundation and regional office entities across the entire Providence St. Joseph Health, Southern California Region. Establishes processes for various projects as assigned and acts as key coordinator in processes relating to cost accounting, revenue and financial analysis. Reviews work performed by other Finance staff, recommends changes to work plans and feedback to other staff. This person will utilize claims data to analyze overall network utilization and quality performance and will be responsible for building and sharing actionable provider market share and performance reports from an external vendor. This role will require a strong knowledge of general finance, productivity, population health, provider performance and healthcare-specific finance and cost accounting principles.
In this position you will:
Be responsible for development benchmarking, productivity metrics and service line profit and loss analysis and dashboards.
Participate in discussions of net revenue projection calculations; design and document methodologies for system implementation of these calculations.
Create and present market, financial, utilization trend, and ad hoc reports for various service lines, physicians, medical groups, new product offerings, entry into new geographic markets, etc.
Utilize claims data to conduct analysis for continuous improvement opportunities, Commercial Medicare Advantage and Direct to Employer products
Pull data/reports from external database and provide Ministry business development and provider relations with actionable outreach reports
Create monthly provider reports summarizing performance across the South California Region
Work with Regional team to identify and evaluate trends in health care, local conditions, economic conditions and competitive institutions.
Support the annual business planning and budgeting activities for the Southern California Region and for the Regional and System strategic plans.
Prepare project plans (e.g., feasibility studies, business plans) including scheduling, costs, personnel matters, and other operational concerns while working in an independent manner.
Provide assistance in the strategic planning and annual update process.
Obtain technical opinions and estimates of time and costs of new product development and coordinates all activities relative to the development of potentially profitable products/programs.
Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Attend meetings as required, and participate on committees as directed.
Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, improving organization performance program, safety standards.
Assist in decision support functions in the organization and remains competent in utilizing available software and data to conduct analyses and make reliable recommendations.
Collect statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing Healthcare related discipline or equivalent experience
6yrs of Analytical & business experience with financial analysis, accounting or related discipline
Knowledge of financial principles and practices and the ability to apply them effectively
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Relational Databases (Access, SQL Server).
Strong background in Hospital financial systems, (e.g. Hyperion, AllScripts Sunrise EPSi)
Ability to work with minimal supervision and be comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Public Health or Business Administration
3 year previous related experience in hospital and medical group planning, analysis, cost accounting, revenue cycle, reimbursement and/or program development
3 year previous related experience in population health reporting, preferably within an integrated healthcare delivery system inclusive of ambulatory and acute care operations
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services and SharePoint
