Providence is calling a Government Account Representative Medi-Cal in Regional Business Office (Full Time/Day Shift) at

Providence California Regional Services in Torrance, CA.

We are seeking a Government Account Representative Medi-Cal in Regional Business Office who will be Responsible for follow up and resolution of outstanding Medi-Cal accounts for any facility affiliated with Providence Health & Services in the California Region.

In this position you will:

  • Obtain on-line status on accounts via DOE

  • Analyze rejections and adjust claims electronically or hard copy as required

  • Review Medi-Cal remittance advice for accuracy prior to billing supplemental insurance

  • Bill Medi-Cal claims via electronic software

  • Bill patients for share of cost when appropriate

  • Be responsible for running daily reports to identify claims holding in the system due to missing information

  • Obtain and coordinate information from Health Information Management as needed

  • Answer all correspondence concerning patient accounts

  • Work towards continuous reduction of accounts receivable by expediting the follow-up and collection process of patient accounts

  • Process refunds on patient accounts as per the established policy

  • Be responsible for submitting appropriate Appeals and CIF's when underpayment and over payments are identified

  • Be responsible for meeting department productivity standards

  • Be responsible for maintaining aging averages

  • DOCUMENTATION/INFORMATION MANAGEMENT:

  • Be responsible for reading all O/A Messages, outlook emails and any other form of communication sent regarding department/system updates and policies

  • Be responsible for reading and responding to all messages that would result in the resolve of a patient account

  • Adhere to confidentiality policies as it applies to patients and employees

  • Ensure that all documentation entered in the system contain facts not feelings

  • Ensure that all documentation entered in the system identifies all the details necessary to work the account to include what the findings are, who was contacted to resolve, what the resolution is and a follow up date if necessary

  • DEVELOPMENT:

  • Contributes to team effort

  • Identify problems and applies logical skills to solve issues with direction from Regional Manager, as needed

  • Perform duties in an independent manner with minimal need for direct supervision

  • Respond well to supervision

  • Assure current knowledge and seeks to improve computer and data management skills through programs offered by organization and through independent study

  • Seek to improve knowledge in the various functions of the Regional Business Office through independent study and outside programs.

  • Meet deadlines for assigned duties

  • Attend all meetings and educational courses required by department and hospital system

  • PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT:

  • Participate in department performance improvement activities

  • Establish personal goals for individual performance

  • Maintain positive attitude

  • Contribute to growth of the department

  • BUDGETARY:

  • Utilize all equipment, supplies, and time in a financially prudent manner

  • Use work time productively

  • Complete all work task timely and accurately

Qualifications:

Required qualifications:

  • 2 years in Acute Medi-Cal Hospital Collections experience

  • 3 years Successful experience in the health care field in a position demonstrating independent organizational and time management abilities

  • 3 years experience in working with and proficiency in use of systems, personal computer and Software

  • Strong computer aptitude

  • Must be able to type a minimum of 35 wpm and must know 10 key by touch

  • Must have problem solving skills

  • Knowledge of basic accounting principals

  • Requires advanced communication skills both verbal and written
