Providence Pharmacy Technician in Torrance, California
Providence is calling a Pharmacy Technician (Full-Time/Day Shift) to Providence Medical Institute in Torrance, CA.
We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician who will be responsible for the review and transmission of pharmacy medication scripts following the established PMI Medication Protocol Program. Submit prescription refills via an electronic task for immediate approval to the pharmacy for medications predefined in the guidelines and protocols established by the medical group. Make appointments for patients as required by the PMI Medication Protocol Program. Provide education, training and guidance to Prescription Refill Clerks and Clinical Practitioners. Provide excellent customer service to patients, pharmacy personnel and PMI clinical staff and providers.

Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline.
Use phone, fax, ecopy and email in a professional manner. Knowledge of procedures and protocols for review, submission and follow up of Pre-Authorizations and medication refill tasks.
Follow pre-defined clinical drug renewal protocols by drug classification.
Perform an electronic chart review to determine approval and/or denial of medication refills per protocols.
Schedule patient appointments based on medication protocol guidelines.
Ability to analyze metrics and statistical data to perform Quality Assurance for the Pharmacy Technician Protocol Program.
Act as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning prescriptions, errors and complaints.
Attend meetings as required and participates in committees.
Maintain required certification by participating in educational programs, current literature and professional organizations.
Participate in continuous quality improvement, identifying problems, suggesting alternatives, and evaluating solutions.
Ability to work overtime, nights and weekends, as needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Successful completion of an approved pharmacy technician program.
Pharmacy Technician license required by the Board of Pharmacy
Must possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs i.e. Word, Excel and Power Point applications.
Ability to use e-mail, fax, phone and e-copy.
Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to work independently and as a member of a team with users, management, physicians and staff, strong planning and organizational skills, ability to trouble shoot, excellent customer service, ability to be a critical thinker and bring creativity, detail oriented, reliable and a self-starter.
Ability to type 35-45 wpm.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 1 year Retail pharmacy experience.
