We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician who will assist the pharmacist in filling prescriptions, preparing and dispensing of oral and IV medications and performs clerical duties.

Comply with drug distribution requirements of all regulatory agencies

The following duties are to be performed with accuracy and the daily assigned task must be completed by the end of the shift:
Count, pour, and label prescriptions,
Perform mathematical calculations as needed for drug preparations
Prepare IV preparations via sterile product technique that include: TPN’s, Large volume IV's, IVPB and others
Assist with the delivery of drug dispensing activities in a team environment
Seek assistance immediately if unable to solve the problem on own
Assist with orientation of new employees as assigned
Provide input to development and revision of polices and procedures
Promote harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes amongst the Health Care team
Defrost frozen IVPB, dates when removed from freezer and prepare them for use
Deliver IV's to the care stations, Checks for excessive stock and return them to the pharmacy
Fill and deliver floor stock medications to the Pyxis Machines and Nursing units
Answer phone calls within 3 rings
Fill and deliver new medication orders
Fill and exchange Carts/patient cassettes
Collect discontinued and patient discharged medications from the floor
Order medication needed on the Want List and stock the pharmacy when the delivery from the Wholesaler arrives, Refrigerated and Frozen items must be stock immediately
Perform re-stocking of medications in the Pharmacy, dates items that will expire soon to be Used First
Perform daily billing, for Surgery charges and Narcotic Sheet Charges and reconciliation
Unit Doses bulk Medications according to policy
Assist in monthly QA inspections
Maintain departmental records, report, forms and files as required
Maintain cleanliness and organization of department work and storage areas
Demonstrate working knowledge of the Hospital Information System and Pharmacy' component
Utilize computer based communications and data base system
Comply with regulatory agency requirements including State Board of Pharmacy and Department of Public Health
Assume responsibility and accountability for own professional growth and practice
This includes maintaining current licensor and completing all required education
Attend assigned staff development activities for department including meetings as requested
Read all departmental relevant E-mails/OA’s/notices every day while on duty
Participate in assigned performance improvement projects and works to correct deficiencies identified
Actively support the facility with regards to continuous compliance with all regulatory and performance improvement standards including, but not limited to The Joint Commission (TJC), Department of Public Health, CMS Core Measures, IHI initiatives, etc.
Maintain current knowledge regarding TJC standards for this position
Commit to and actively participates in ongoing compliance
Have knowledge of Tracer methodology
Provide the best care and service to every person, every time (PHS Quality Vision)
Provide care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient/family centered (PHS Quality definition)
Practice financial responsibility and prudence
Comply with budget and staffing standards
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
Current technician license with the State of California
Knowledge of sterile product technique preparation
Ability to communicate in oral and written English
Preferred qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy technical school
Typing speed of 40 words per minute
Ability to use computer and operate 10-key calculator
