We are seeking a Philanthropy Officer who will report to the Senior Director of Development, the Philanthropy Officer will be an integral member of the Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation staff, with a focus on major gifts and physician engagement work. The primary focus of the position is to secure major gifts of $25,000 or more to support medical center capital priorities and a comprehensive fundraising effort to provide broad support for key service lines and institutional priorities. The position will interact directly with hospital leadership, volunteer leaders and physician partners to build a culture of philanthropy and significantly expand philanthropic support for our campuses in San Pedro and Torrance. This is done through the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors to Providence Little Company of Mary.
The Philanthropy Officer will be responsible to ensure that the agreed upon metrics for each component of the fund raising program are met on an annual basis. Because we function in a team environment, gift officers do not have dollar goals but are collectively responsible for one shared goal for the Foundation team and ultimately the Southern California Region.
In this position you will:
Solicit, both personally and/or in collaboration with volunteers and physician partners, gifts of $25,000 or more as outright gifts or pledges payable over a period up to 5 years.
Serve as Foundation liaison to identified departments and physicians within the Medical Center, to help foster a culture of philanthropy in which physicians are actively engaged in referring grateful patients to the Foundation for qualification and working in collaboration to engage grateful patients in meaningful ways that lead to philanthropic gift opportunities.
Meet with, either in person or virtually, newly identified prospective donors identified through the Grateful Patient Program to either qualify in or qualify out as major gift prospects.
Strive to delight donors, ensuring a meaningful and positive giving experience, such that their connection to the ministry is deepened and encourages future major, principal and planned giving support.
Actively engage in the community in order to create awareness of the charitable mission of Providence Little Company of Mary and its philanthropic priorities and goals.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree From an accredited university or college.
3 years Fundraising experience, preferably in a large complex organization, with ability to demonstrate success in soliciting and closing of five- and sixfigure gifts or greater.
Experience with a fundraising donor management software program.
Experience building a pipeline of new prospective donors that translated into major gifts.
Advanced interpersonal skills.
Analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Excellent skills in communicating persuasively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to demonstrate a track record of success in securing major gifts.
Computer literacy in Windows applications.
Demonstrated knowledge of prospect management and use of donor management systems that resulted in the development of a major gift prospect pipeline.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Coursework/Training Completion of fundraising training programs.
Fundraising certification (CFRE).
Experience in healthcare philanthropy.
Experience with CRM donor management system and/or SalesForce.
