PROVIDENCE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOUNDATIONS

Each of the six southern California Providence Health and Services medical centers has its own fundraising foundation, headed by a dedicated vice president who reports up to the Chief Development Officer and President, Providence Southern California Foundations. The foundations enable the respective medical centers to keep pace with advances in lifesaving technology while responding to the unique needs of its individual communities. Through the generosity of their neighbors, the foundations will continue to ensure that the region’s PH&S medical centers remain places of hope to all who come to them in need.

Altogether, there are now over 50 FTE across the foundations, with an aggregated budget in 2015 of $7 million. Growth of both the headcount and budget is anticipated. That growth is associated with the goal of increasing collective baseline fundraising from $39 million in 2015 to $100 million by 2020, including an anticipated $150 million new hospital building campaign at Providence Tarzana.

The Providence Health & Services Southern California Foundations include:

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Foundation, Mission Hills, supports one of the busiest trauma centers in Southern California, which also serves its community as a cancer center of excellence. Philanthropy is helping to support the refurbishing of two radiology suites, plus upgraded digital mammography and ultra-sound technology.

Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation, San Pedro and Torrance, supports Los Angeles County children and families when they need it most. The Partners for Health Kids mobile pediatric clinic - funded solely through philanthropy - has served 50,000 undeserved and uninsured children since 1994. Equipped with a new $500,000, 38-foot medical van, the mobile clinic will be able to expand its reach even further now to provide immunizations, medical treatment and referrals.

Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation The Burbank-based medical center opened the Hycy & Howard Hill Neuroscience Institute to help families touched by neurological disorders. The foundation is in the final phase of its campaign for critically-important funds to build the Cusumano Family Neuroscience Outpatient Center.

Providence Tarzana Medical Center Foundation is in the final phase of its "Giving That Builds" campaign to guarantee that the highest level of care will continue to be available for local children and families. This project will relocate and expand the hospital’s existing pediatric intensive care unit, which is currently located in a small, 40-year-old space that offers little privacy for critically ill patients and families.

Providence TrinityCare Hospice Foundation, Torrance, supports the medical center in providing a range of palliative care and hospice services to nearly 2,000 families in Southern California each year. The TrinityKids Care program is the only dedicated pediatric hospice care program of its kind in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. In order to compassionately enter the lives of people facing the realities of suffering, loss, death and grief, the foundation realizes ongoing education is needed for more clinicians and staff. Education helps all involved provide specialized care while respecting each person's choices, beliefs and values.
